ASSISTANCE TO THE VICTIMS OF THE KAHOVKA HPP EXPLOSION
On June 6th, Russian forces detonated the structures of the Kahovka Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) in the Kherson region, resulting in a massive techno-ecological catastrophe. As a result, approximately 80 settlements (including 10 villages on the right bank) were flooded, including the city of Kherson. The authorities and volunteers immediately began evacuating the population from the affected areas.
Maksym Atamaniuk, the head of the public organization “Regional Center for Sustainable Development” along with volunteers, has been personally traveling to Kherson every day since June 6th to transport humanitarian aid in the form of food, water, hygiene supplies, mattresses, blankets, animal feed, and more.
They have also maintained constant communication with local and other volunteers, the head of the Antonivka village council (Kherson), representatives of district councils in the city, the Kherson Water Utility, and others to assess the current needs.
As of June 14th, 2023, Maxim Atamanuk and the volunteers of the organization have personally transported and provided logistical support for the transportation of approximately 20 tons of food, hygiene supplies, mattresses, blankets, and other items from other volunteers and public organizations. Additionally, they have transported around 3 tons of water.
